The 100MW Singida wind farm project is being developed by Wind East Africa Ltd., whose shareholders are Six Telecoms (Tanzania), Aldwych International (U.K.), and IFC, a member of the World Bank Group. The low-cost renewables project will be located 700 kilometres from Dar es Salaam.
Mr. Rashid Shamte from Wind East Africa said, “By undertaking pioneering projects like Singida, the private sector can work hand in hand with the government to realize Tanzania’s power potential. We would not have reached this stage of project development without the support of the Government of Tanzania.”
The Singida project’s total cost is estimated at $285 million, of which IFC, Aldwych and Six Telecoms will contribute roughly $71 million.
